The birth of Continoma and Noir

From Earthrise Wiki

[edit] History

The Continoma has its roots beginning in the 21st century with the "Continoma Project". This was a project where scientists began work on a massive DNA database was used to store the memories, and genetic information of every living thing on earth, including humans. Due to the role that the scientists played in the storing of genetic information, they soon began to see themselves as the "keepers" of this database. Because of this, they began purging the database of individuals who they deemed had committed atrocious acts. But despite this, many of these individuals exploited the greed of the scientists within the organization to have their DNA restored to the database.

A few hundred years later, scientists who had worked under the Continoma project began cloning the first wave of individuals in order to recolonize the earth which was now populated by mutated wildlife, and mutants spawned by the last remnants of earths original survivors. These individuals, dubbed "Pioneers" where able to reclaim an area on the island they called Enterra where the city Salvitas, or "City of Salvation" was founded. Here the leaders of Project Continoma established a new government in an attempt to "erase the painful memories of the past".

Since the city's construction required a large workforce, a large quantity of people where cloned. This lead to the subdivision of the now growing population into differing groups, and factions. Some of these groups began exploiting the rest of the population in the way that groups had done before the fall of mankind in the 21st century. In response to this the members of Continoma put into place a Draconian police force to keep the general population safe.

The creation of what would eventually be known as the Noir came from the creation of this police force. Originally a loose organization created by a number of intellectuals and students. It's purpose was to keep Continoma in check through civil action, but soon thereafter began turning to armed resistance as a means of regulation. At this point the name, Noir was now taken up. Shortly after announcing themselves as separated from Continoma, seven of Noir's founding member were captured and their DNA removed from the cloning database. It was later restored by a scientist with Noir ideals who worked within the Continoma project.

As Noir's supporters increased in number, a coup took place within Continoma's ranks which resulted in the cloning technology being controlled by a group of bureaucrats who began using threats of removal from the genetic database to keep individuals from expressing support for the Noir group. Noir continued fighting, it's support steadily increasing due to the enactment of new restrictions upon the Salvita's population. But without cloning technology, it seemed certain that Noir would be squashed.

This was averted however due to an individual by the name of Synthia Harvington. This individual negotiated an agreement with Noir that would give the faction the cloning technology in exchange for aide in a counter coup. After Harvington restored the government, the technology was delivered and Noir and Continoma arrived to a temporary truce.

Currently Continoma and Noir share the island of Enterra. Whilst Continoma continues to expland its industrial might. Noir serves as an underground movement aimed at disrupting Continoma's current plans.
